6 YEARS OLDFATIMAA brilliant girl with a great fight ahead of her
Fátima was born with a twinkle in her eye, a great love of nature, and a hidden fight within her body. At just a few months old, she was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare and serious disease that damages the liver's bile ducts and eventually leads to liver failure. From that moment on, her life became a fight for survival.9 YEARS OLDVALERIAFrom terrifying hemorrhages to hope.
Valeria was a little girl when her life took a terrifying turn. What began as an upset stomach turned into a nightmare: she began vomiting blood, terrifying her family. Doctors discovered that a blood clot in her portal vein was preventing normal blood flow to her liver, requiring urgent surgery to save her life. Each episode was life-threatening. Her condition deteriorated so rapidly that a liver transplant became her only chance of survival.4 YEARS OLDMATEOAt 18 months old, Mateo's life was fading. His eyes were yellow, his tiny body swollen, his expression sad, and his energy fading. His low-income family was hopeless, not only because of the urgency of his transplant, but also because of the cost of the surgery. Everyone in the family was losing hope of ever seeing Mateo smile.8 YEARS OLDAZULAn unparalleled smile and charisma
Azul is a cheerful girl with bright eyes, whose smile lights up any room. Her personality is unmatched. Despite being born with biliary atresia, she hasn't stopped smiling even though her only chance at life is a liver transplant.11 YEARS OLDJOHNNYA brave boy who faces the unthinkable
Johnny was diagnosed with biliary atresia as a baby. At 10 years old, a liver transplant was his only hope, but he was rejected, not for lack of a donor or for his health, but because his family's extreme poverty didn't offer him a safe place to recover.arrow_forwardDONATE/{{current_slide_index}} OF {{total_slide_count}}
